EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP

The bed stands as the focal point of any bedroom, and when it comes to your child’s room, it’s essential to consider its versatility as they grow. While opting for a complete bedroom set—comprising the bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe, and accessories—may seem convenient, it’s vital to keep in mind your child’s developmental stages. Fortunately, many brands offer adaptable or modular furniture designed to evolve with your little one.

Available in sizes like 120×60 cm or 140×70 cm, the crib bed can seamlessly transition into a junior bed or even an additional desk, ensuring its longevity in your child’s space until they reach 7-8 years old.

Prioritize your baby’s comfort and safety by equipping their bed with a firm, suitable mattress, complemented by a sloping surface and, if needed, a baby wedge for added support.

When it comes to bedding and linen, opt for soft, breathable materials such as tencel or bamboo fiber, which naturally regulate temperature and promote a cozy sleep environment.

Incorporate storage solutions like a chest of drawers or wardrobe to keep your child’s belongings organized. A chest of drawers often features a removable changing table, while a wardrobe offers ample space for clothes, bed linen, changing essentials, toys, and more.

Utilize closet space for hanging items like sleeping bags, coats, and dresses, especially if you have a little girl.

For optimal sleep quality, ensure you have essentials like a sleeping bag, plasticized under sheet, fitted sheet, baby monitor, and nightlight on hand.

EATING WELL FOR GOOD GROWTH

Ensuring proper care and comfort for your newborn is paramount, particularly during the early stages when feeding occurs every two to three hours. Whether you choose to breastfeed or opt for bottle feeding, having the right essentials on hand is essential for both you and your baby’s well-being.

For mothers who opt for breastfeeding, it’s vital to have the following items:

  • Disposable or washable nursing pads to absorb leakage.
  • Crevice cream to alleviate any discomfort or irritation.
  • Silicone breast pads for additional support and relief from pain.
  • A nursing pillow for enhanced comfort during feeding sessions.

Upon returning to work, investing in a breast pump—either through rental or purchase—becomes necessary to maintain breastfeeding while balancing professional responsibilities.

For bottle-fed infants, ensure you have the following essentials:

  • 3 to 5 bottles to accommodate feeding needs.
  • A compartmentalized box for carrying powdered milk when on the go.
  • A sterilizer to ensure bottles and accessories are properly sanitized.
  • A bottle drainer for efficient drying and storage.
  • Sufficient milk powder supply.
  • A stock of mineral water suitable for preparing infant formula.

If your baby prefers warm milk, consider investing in a bottle warmer to ensure their comfort and enjoyment during feeding times.

TIME FOR A BATH

The bath time ritual holds a special place in the bond between parent and child, characterized by playfulness, touch, and a sense of closeness. Just like choosing the right crib, selecting the perfect bathtub is crucial for creating a safe and enjoyable bathing experience for your little one.

Depending on the available space in your bathroom, there are several bathtub options to consider:

  • Plastic bathtub: Ideal for placement in your shower or existing bathtub, it can be paired with a bath lounger for added comfort if needed.
  • Folding bathtub: Provides stability when filled with water and can be easily stored away after use, making it a convenient choice for smaller spaces.
  • Free-standing bathtub: Positioned at your height, it offers greater convenience for bathing your baby securely and helps prevent back strain.
  • Bathtub integrated into the changing table: This two-in-one solution maximizes space efficiency while providing a convenient bathing area for your baby.

To ensure a thorough and gentle cleaning experience for your little one, be sure to have the following items on hand:

  • pH-neutral washing gel or mild soap suitable for delicate baby skin.
  • A bath thermometer to ensure the water temperature is safe and comfortable.
  • A cozy cape or hooded bathrobe for keeping your baby warm and snug after their bath.
  • Soft bathroom linen for drying and wrapping your baby in comfort.

GO FOR A WALK

When it comes to traveling with your baby, ensuring their safety and comfort is paramount, especially when on the road. Here’s a breakdown of essential items to consider:

  • Car Seat: A non-negotiable necessity, a car seat is mandatory for transporting your baby safely. Opt for an adjustable car seat from group 0+/1, which can accommodate infants up to approximately 4 years old or 18 kg. Investing in such a seat ensures several years of secure and comfortable car rides for your little one.

  • Outdoor Exploration Gear: If you enjoy outdoor activities like long walks or hikes, consider investing in a baby carrier, sling, stroller, or even a baby carriage. These options provide flexibility and convenience, allowing you to explore the outdoors while keeping your baby close and comfortable.

  • Changing Bag: Whether running errands or visiting family, a changing bag is a must-have accessory for outings with your baby. These bags are designed to keep all your changing and caregiving essentials organized and easily accessible. Look for models with features like a removable changing mat, which can transform any flat surface into a makeshift changing table for added convenience.

  • Travel Cot: For weekends away or vacations with friends and family, a travel cot serves as a versatile solution for providing your baby with a comfortable sleeping space. These lightweight and portable cots offer a convenient temporary bed option for your little one during trips away from home.

By ensuring you have these essential items on hand, you can navigate travel with your baby with ease, comfort, and peace of mind, allowing you to focus on creating precious memories together.

BABY'S DRESSING ROOM

If there’s one area where baby lacks for nothing, it’s his wardrobe. Between gifts from your sister, cousins or friends, and pre-birth or maternity gifts, you think you’ve got everything you need. But you don’t!

At Total Bump, we advise you to pack your dresser in size 1 month or birth, depending on baby’s weight:

  • 10 to 15 long- and/or short-sleeved bodysuits, depending on the season
  • 8 velvet or cotton pyjamas (one per day, plus a spare). Baby sleeps a lot in the early days, so you can leave him comfortable in his nightwear even during the day.
  • several pairs of socks
  • a pair of tights
  • a pair of booties
  • cotton caps
  • cardigans
  • several bibs
  • diapers that can be used for anything and everything
  • a small woollen blanket for the stroller, naps, getting out of the bath, etc.
  • a well-covered jumpsuit, sleeping bag or onesies for going out
  • 4 or 5 outfits that you’ve had the pleasure of choosing and buying yourself

You’ll need the same thing in size 3 or 6 months, depending on baby’s size and growth.

WHEN IT'S TIME TO PLAY AND RELAX

For the first few months, your baby needs to be comfortable wherever he is. His head is particularly fragile, as it is still too soft to stand on its own.

Choose quality products, always equipped with a mattress or firm cushion-type reinforcement. A cradle, bassinet, bouncer or the removable cosy of a car seat can do the trick, so you can have baby by your side when he’s not sleeping.bouncers let you keep baby safely close to you.

From the age of 2 months, baby can start exploring the world around him on a playmat, where you can place a few toys and soft toys to exercise his motor skills.
